Hi, Im Jacob - The face behind Jacob Cowan Photography.

I first fell in love with photography when I was 16, during a work experience placement with a local photographer here in Port Stephens. Not long after, I bought my first camera and started taking it everywhere with me. At the time, I was mostly drawn to landscape photography and exploring the coastline, beaches and natural light that make this area so special.

Over the years, that passion shifted. I realised what I loved most wasn’t just taking photos — it was capturing moments for people and creating memories they could hold onto. Photographing families, couples and everyday life in places that feel familiar and meaningful quickly became my favourite part of the process.

Starting my own photography business has always been a dream of mine, but the timing never felt quite right. Now, it does and I’m excited to turn something I’ve loved for years into something I can share with others in a more meaningful way.

My style is light, natural and relaxed, inspired by coastal surroundings and easygoing Port Stephens living. I focus on real connection and genuine moments, not stiff poses or forced smiles. Sessions with me are simple and guided, so you can feel comfortable, be yourself, and enjoy the experience while I capture it all.
